Film Documentary: China Love - Associate Producer

After a relocation to Shanghai, China, with my family in late 2014, I became so inspired with the biggest metropolis and city of contrasts. Shanghai has so much happening at all times, and I was so excited to create something big, just like the city. It made sense to capture the colourful stories on film and I jumped at the challenges in producing with a different medium.

Throughout 2016, director Olivia Martin-Mcguire & I began pre-production on ‘China Love’ a film documentary exploring the pre-wedding photography industry in China. It was just the two of us, sourcing & researching stories & characters and creating decks & story arcs while applying for funding. We put together film crews with local & international talent and I was Line Producer & Associate Producer for the Pre-Development Funding which created a sizzle trailer that went on to be fully funded.

China Love’ became just the second film funded by Create NSW and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Arts’ Documentary Feature Fund in 2017 and was supported by Screen Australia with Media Stockade as top producers. My role throughout final filming became Associate Producer.

Debuting at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2018, ‘China Love’ also had an international premiere at DOCNYC Festival in November 2018.

‘China Love’ screened on Australian TV in February 2019 and I was a Q&A panel guest at the Salem Film Fest in March 2019.
